Nicole in her childhood bedroom where her creative business started.

Hello and welcome!

Hello and welcome to my very first blog post here on my little creative corner of the internet. I‘m so happy you landed here.

In case you don’t know me yet, my name is Nicole, I‘m an artist living in Switzerland.

Florals are my absolute favorite subject to paint, they‘re mostly a combination of abstract and impressionistic styles. But more on that on another day.

Art wasn‘t a career option at all for me until I failed some exams in 2016. I had to repeat the exams a year later. All in all, I was so unhappy and I didn‘t love what I did. So I decided to cancel my exams last minute and applied to an art school.

I always loved to paint, craft, and create, so this school sounded like a treat. It didn‘t take me very long after I‘d begun this new art class for me to completely fall in love with. And after the first few lessons, I knew this is what I want to do. I had absolutely zero idea how, but I‘d make it work some way or another.

Fast forward to today, and here I am still working hard on the dreams I had almost seven years ago. Wow, I can‘t believe it is this long already!

I remember one morning I had a few hours left before my shift started at daycare, btw I‘m a childcare provider. So I walked along the river nearby and sat on a bench. I had nothing to write with me except a few pieces of paper. I wrote about what goals I have and brainstormed some name ideas. This was the day I came up with the name Nicalier.

And the main goal, I wrote on this piece of paper, is still the exact same today as it was seven years ago. It‘s pretty simple, but yet it felt and sometimes still does feel big. The main goal was to build a creative business to support my future family with something I love doing so much.

Voilà, that‘s it. So simple, right?

A little later I joined Instagram with Nicalier and started posting my stuff on there. Following all those guru tips about how, what, and when to post. I didn‘t love it. I still don‘t. Then the last year happened and many changes and challenges were going on in my life. I didn‘t feel like sharing anything. What I miss most on Instagram is the connection. I want to build a genuine connection with my community, where I can write about my painting process, and share what I‘m working on and what I‘m up to during my weeks and months. This is the reason I want to start this blog. This is meant to be a safe space to share and communicate with each other, without feeling stressed about algorithms and content not getting delivered to the right people.

To be honest I don‘t have everything figured out yet. But my goal is to share my „behind the scenes“ with you. This could look like recap posts, posts about my painting process, a tour through my studio, or writing about my current work and the inspiration behind it.

Maybe some of you have ideas for blog content, I‘d love to hear about your thoughts.

This is it for today. Thank you again so much for reading this post and stopping by my site. It really does mean a lot to me.

Go browse my website some more and email me, I‘d love to read from you! And subscribe to my newsletter to never miss my blog posts! :)

Bye for now 💕

P.S. This is where it all started, in my childhood bedroom. :)
